Principles of Gas Production


Since, Gas Production is undertaken at an engineered facility (Gas Plants), which requires detailed planning & specifications, careful construction, and efficient operation, there exists certain guidelines that should be taken care of during the entire process of Gas Production. Some of the principles that should be followed are :-
  • All the gases are generally produced, stored and transported in compressed form at either high or ambient temperature or in the form of refrigerated liquids at atmospheric pressure. However, whether the gases are liquefied, pressurized or refrigerated, they are highly volatile, hence it should be taken care that these gases should not release in the atmosphere during the production process.

  • The operators of the Gas Plant, gas facilities and related systems must be particularly safety conscious.

  • The user must understand the principles of well testing the design and analyzing it, in order to evaluate better performance and characteristics of the plant.

  • Study and understanding of the principles related to the phase behavior of the plant to distinguish the general properties and behavior of gas plant fluids is equally important.

  • The user of the Gas Plant should also know every characteristics of the gas that is transformed in the Plant, such as, its principles of Equation of State, its use in fluid characterization, etc.

  • One must also determine and analyze the compositional effect of the gas.

  • Before starting the production process of gas, the operator of the gas plant must understand and apply decision & risk analysis to estimate recovery factor and predict the performance of the plant.

  • Everyone engaged in the production of Gas must recognize the principle of identifying and following energy policies that are environmentally sound, continuing the national trend towards cleaner and more sustainable energy use.

  • The producer of the gas must be committed to, address the demand, supply, distribution, storage, and the transparency of Domestic and international Gas Markets.
