Industrial Applications Oxygen || Nitrogen || Argon || Hydrogen || Carbon Dioxide || Natural Gas || Acetylene || Methane Methane Plant ApplicationMethane is a natural compound formed by decomposition of plant and animal matter. It is recognized as the main ingredient of natural gas, a nonrenewable fossil fuel formed from the remains of tiny sea animals and plants that died 200-400 million years ago. Generally, any industry that uses methane is a potential user of Methane Plants. The following is a partial list of its usages in various industries : - Laboratories and Analysis In mixture with other hydrocarbons, methane is used as reference point in calorimetric measurements for the measurement of PCI of hydrocarbons or coal. Methane is used in calibration gas mixtures for petrochemical industry; environmental emission monitoring, industrial hygiene monitors and trace impurity analyzers. Organic Use Methane is used as a starting material for other organic compounds like methyl chloride, methylene dichloride, chloroform, etc. It is used to produce carbon dioxide gas and carbon black. Carbon black produced is used in rubber industries. Industrial Use Methane is used to power electric generators. Methane is used as a getter in ionization chambers and as a calibration reference for calorimetric, environmental, petrochemical and industrial hygiene applications. |
